The center aims at promoting community cohesion and unity by providing opportunities for social, educational and recreational needs of an individual, family and community.

Bandra East Community Center (BECC) is a registered voluntary social work organization (NGO), catering to the socialeconomic development of the slums and pavement dwellers.

BECC, which was established in the year 1974 by the Norbertine Fathers, celebrated its Silver Jubilee in September 1999. The first major project taken up by BECC was the rehabilitation of the slum now called Siddharth Colony. Over the years, BECC has grown in strength both in terms of work and staff. BECC has 35 staff members and it works in 10 slums and 4 pavement colonies.

BECC, which was functioning on the premises of the church of St. Joseph the worker in Bandra East, now has a three storeyed building where various project activities are carried out.
