BECC caters to the financial, social, educational
and health needs of people of all ages. It has been in the forefront tirelessly
working for empowerment of the slum dwellers in 15 communities by facilitating
the formation of Self Help Groups (SHGs). Women, the backbone of the household
are seldom respected and cared for. They are often neglected and bear the brunt
for the wrong happening in the family in particular and the society in general.
The Mahila Mandals are run by women and for women to discuss and address the
alleviate the day-to-day household problems and the difficulties they face in
the communities. Various seminars, camps, workshops, awareness and cultural
programs are held periodically to educate, empower women to address the
challenges they face. Women living in the slums have formed six “Bachat
Ghat”groups consisting of 15 members in each group. The aim is to inculcate the
habit of saving for their future needs.
